Do you have a passion for shoes?
At this point with my weight, I can’t do heels. It is bittersweet in a way. Bitter because I can’t go crazy in the shoe store. Sweet for my husband since he don’t have to foot the bill for my expensive shoe habit! Believe me though, I still have my fun when it comes to shoes.
My 2 favorite types.
Boots & Sandals!
This past summer I was doing a lot of walking in the park. While I loved my sandals they just didn’t have enough support. I ended up buying a pair of Nikes. They really helped give me the support I needed for walking at the pace I was going. I normally just go in the store, pick out the kind I like and then try them on. I am sure a lot of people does the same thing. Sometimes we are lucky and they turn out great. But what about when we get them home and they just aren’t that great?
Let’s face it. A good pair of shoes is expensive. So how do we choose? Since walking wether it is in the park or on the treadmill is my main focus, I researched
For walking shoes:
Make sure they aren’t a heavy shoe. The lighter the better.
Check out the heel. You want a lower heel when you are walking as opposed to running.
Check out the shape of the heel. You don’t want a flared heel, that is more for runners. Walking you need something that the tip of the heel is going more towards the ground.
Flexibility. This is a very important one. You want something that will move with you as you walk. Not stiff. At least more flexible in the front of the shoe.
Put the shoe on and wiggle your toes. Can you move your toes up and down? You need room to wiggle!
Now rock, can you feel the flexibility in the front and a bit stiffer in the back? Your heel should be snugger.
As long as they aren’t pinching your foot you should be alright.
Those are the main things I have found when shopping for shoes. Do you have any tips for buying walking shoes? I would love to hear them. What kind do you wear?
