How was your Valentines Day? Did you do anything special?
To me Love isn’t set for a specific day. It isn’t about the jewelry, the flowers, the money spent on that one day of the year. To me love is waking up at 4 in the morning and going to Krogers and bringing back your wife Fruit Loops.
It’s about sitting in the family room eating Campbell’s soup & watching Family Feud. What I am trying to say it’s the little things that is done throughout the year. It’s just the feeling.
Now with that said, sometimes we do want to do something out of the ordinary. What a more beautiful day to do it then Valentines Day?
Today John and I did just that.
We slept in.
We went to a wonderful Fresh seafood place called “Mitchell’s Fish Market”, and had an oyster brunch. Mitchell’s is about 30 miles north of us on the Ohio river. It is actually in Newport, Ky. But right on the river. If you are ever in the area, it would be worth the trip. Compare it to Red Lobster on the prices, But I have to say the quality of the food was so much better.
As you can see from the pictures we had some wonderful food. West & East coast Oysters. Spinach & Artichoke dip and John ordered something there (3rd picture) called the Shanghai Sampler. He also had bread and lobster soup. YUM.
Afterwards we were planning to see Safe Haven. Unfortunately it doesn’t come on until tonight, we will save that for a later date.
On our way home we stopped by the grocery. I sat in the car while John ran in and picked up what it was he said he needed. He came out carrying me a single red rose. I brought it home and added it along with the other flowers he had brought me at the beginning of the week.
We came home. Rested up some, doing nothing. Decided on a light supper. And put our bottle of Champagne on ice to chill.
Watched American idol and indulged in a wonderful thing of frozen yogurt mmmm..
Then it was time to open the bubbly and toast.
Yes, this has been a great day! It broke up the normal.
Happy Valentines Day to all my readers!!!
Now it’s your turn, What did you do today?
