How to use Chalk markers

The day I first received a set of chalk markers I was excited.  The truth was I didn’t know the difference between a chalk marker or a regular marker.  I took the cap off and was disappointed when they didn’t “work”.  I put them over and never messed with them.

As time went on I started hearing about chalk markers.  I wondered why people was interested in them.  After some investigation I learned the correct way to use a chalk marker.

While I now own different colors and different brands, I find each one different.  The colors are different, the size tips.  The look and the feel of each one.  More importantly though, I learned the correct way to use them.

First off they won’t work on paper or other non porous item – this means anything not permeable to water, air, or other fluids.  There is companies that sell labels that these work perfect on.  This makes a wonderful way to organize and it is kind of fancy too.

The main ways people use them is on glass such as mirrors, plastic, metal, glossy boards, LED boards.  You can even use them on car windows.  EXAMPLE:  Just married, For Sale or Visit SHOPPINGWIVES.COM.

As with anything you may want to test a small spot before using a chalk marker to make sure that item really is non porous.

This box I have been using is from Stardom Crafts.  There is 18 – yes, 18 markers in this box.  These are fluorescent – true to their color- non toxic chalk markers.  They also have reversible tips.  It can be a chisel point tip or a bullet point tip. You can remove it and flip it around for two types of print styles!

Now back to just taking the cap off.  That isn’t the way these work, but they are simple to use.

1.  With the cap still on the marker, shake it.

2.  Take off cap and push it on a piece of paper, this can take up to a minute before you see the ink coming out

3.  Use the marker! (that’s the fun part)

4.  Replace cap on marker when done using it.

The Stardom markers have been a lot of fun to own and I will continue using them.
