It can be tough to find incredible gifts. There is so much stuff out there, and it can often feel like you’ve given all the standard presents before. So get creative, and give some unusual gifts instead.
Have a friend whose home is looking a little tired? Or who just doesn’t have time to make home improvements? Or just a friend who has a larger-than-life personality and is always wearing bright clothes and jewelry. A super unusual gift is to pay for someone to come and re-paint their front door. And we’re not talking a boring shade of dark green or blue here. We’re talking a bright orange, or pillar-box red, or even sunshine yellow. There are restrictions set in many parts of the country as to the colors you can or cannot paint your home. There are no restrictions, however, as to what color you can paint your front door. You pay for the painter, and let your lucky guest pick the color they like best. Or, if you’re feeling handy, you could paint it for them! The end result? The receiver will smile every time they arrive home. What an amazing gift to give someone.
If, however, you want to play it a bit more safe, try making a classic gift a bit more unusual. Flowers and hampers are a great example of this. There is an alternative picking up a bunch from the shop around the corner, and making a hamper from things from the grocery store. Hawaiian gift baskets are the perfect example of usual made unusual! Not only are hampers often appreciated, the items in a basket like this might be things your gift-receiver hasn’t tried before. They might even find their new favorite food!
As for another idea? This is great for somebody with a family. You could commission an artist to draw or paint the gift-receivers loved ones. The artist can make the gift in one of two ways. Firstly, you can give them a photograph to work from. Social media is great for this, as you will be able to find up-to-date ones. You will also be able to know which is their favourite based on their profile picture or cover photo choice! Alternatively, you could give them a homemade gift voucher telling them about the commission. They can then go ahead and arrange a date to meet with the artist. Some artists will want to do several sittings, and some will need just the one. They will then be able to go away and draw the rest at their studio. Find out in advance which way the artist prefers to work. This is a really personal gift and one that is sure to take pride of place in the home for years to come.
As for something truly unique, take your focus to their bathroom. Not literally of course! But did you know that there are now many really funky toilet seat covers out there! While it might seem like a weird idea, we use our bathrooms every single day. So at least you know your gift will be used lots. Want some inspiration. Check out this ‘Jester’ toilet seat!
