The other day I told you I received a couple books from Julie Daniluk R.H.N.
I focused on the wonderful books she wrote called, “Meals that Heal inflamation”. Now I want to talk about another book by Julie, that hit home for me.
This book is called “Slimming, meals that heal”.
If you have ever read my blog in the past, you know that I have struggled with my weight for my entire life. I have gained more weight by dieting, then I have lost. I have tried pills, shakes, different soups and fruits and other eating plans, I have went as far as even having lap band surgery. All with the same result.
Now at 42 years old I prefer to feel better first, look better second. I think that is why I was so drawn to, Slimming Meals that Heal.
In this book Julie explains why Diets do not work. There is several reasons why, mainly because most diets aren’t realistic. We need something we can live with the rest of our lives. Not something that starts next Monday and ends next (insert special occasion).
This book is very informative. She explains the science behind weight loss. Not just why Diets do not work, but also how allergies can cause weight gain. I didn’t know that, did you? Then she also explains how hormones play a part in your weight. The nutrition of weight loss is an important section. My favorite? It is her live it tool kit. She actually gives you strategies to combat emotional eating. This is where I have the most problem. Even though I know I shouldn’t be doing it – I always find myself grabbing for something I shouldn’t have – that is usually the result of some kind of emotion. If life was always perfect and always went my way – I wouldn’t have this problem. But life isn’t perfect and things will never go exactly my way. I am just beyond belief grateful for this live it tool kit!
You are going to find in section 2 of the book all about the SMTH Program. To put that simple, she is taking you back 200 years ago, back to when your ancestors at foods that weren’t processed, flavored etc. Everything was natural and whole. More importantly, it was good for you.
She will give you a 5 step anti inflammatory live-it-plan and then will give you advice on how to set up your kitchen to follow this plan.
Last but not least, she will share some amazing recipes. From Liquid healing all the way to treats and snacks and everything in between.
Julie is great with her recipes in my opinion. It is important to me, to find recipes that contain simple ingredients that I can find anywhere. I guess this is why she has her own cooking show on the Oprah Winfrey Network, Healthy Gourmet.
