Since I am owned by several cats and a sweet dog, I know how important it is to keep their nails trimmed.
Not only is having their nails trimmed good for you, it is good for them. If they get too long they will break or crack, like ours, and this can sometimes hurt the furbaby.
Starting out trimming isn’t easy. You have to get the “patient” reassured that you are not hurting them. Let them see the clippers. Let them adjust. Just go slow.
As you might know, there is a certain point sometimes called quick that we shouldn’t cut pass. If so you are going to cause the nail to bleed. Let’s hope you don’t do that! If you do, sometimes accidents happen, there is a powder you can apply. It is a clotting powder.
I have tried several different things when it comes to trimming. There has been a few things that I have used that has petrified my dog, the ones that just file the nail down and sounds like a sander. I have found out that the best clippers to use is just a simple pair. In fact I have been using a pair that Omega Pets sent me.
They are a sharp stainless steel pair of nail clippers. There is also a safety guard on these that will help you to know how far to cut on your lovable pet.
I like these because they are easy to hold, They aren’t heavy and they aren’t awkward. Another nice addition to the clippers is they do have a nail file made in the left handle. If you are looking for a good pair of clippers for your canine or feline, be sure and consider these.
