John and I arrived in Panama on 9/23. The flight was a quick one. 2 1/2 hours to Miami Fla. –2 hour layover there- 2 1/2 more hours to Panama,City.
While the lines to immigration was long it went by smoothly.
We didn’t have to wait for our luggage. John was able to rent a cart since my bags were loaded to the max and almost impossible to carry around, even with the rollers. I need things. haha
Customs was simple. It was my worst fear. While I knew I was not carrying anything illegal I was afraid I brought in too much makeup or the coffee we brought with us would get us in trouble. All my fears were put to rest when they sent our bags quickly through the scanner and sent us on our way. John gave me that “I told you so look” and off we went to get the car we had pre booked. Now that is where the fun began.
First they tell us we have to pay more then the money we already paid due to insurance. Then after 2 hrs they tell us they can’t accept our payment method. To be honest, I had left that all up to John and I had collapsed in a chair away from the counter. They had actually took me to a car, got the AC going, loaded our bags, only to take me out of the car and unload my bags. Long story short we went with another car rental.
By the time we got the car dealt with and made it through the city, a few wrong turns here and there and finally finding the policia to get us on the right track, we were well on our way. I will talk more about the place we are at now in future posts. Right now I want to tell you about where we stayed that first night. After traveling what seemed like forever but was more like 3 hrs we stopped at a place in SanTiago . It was called the La Hacienda
John had been there a few years back and really loved it, so he was wanting to take me to it. If I could only say one thing about it, I would have to say it was colorful!
And they love their art collection and I did too! A lot of it was south african art. If I hadn’t been so tired I would have got a lot more and a lot better pictures. Here is some of it:
I didn’t get any pictures of the food they served, but they have a wonderful restaurante and casino next door. We didn’t try out the casino either. I did however manage to get a few pictures of the pool and the beautiful area they had. I could see myself there spending several days!
While this wasn’t a review nor did I receive anything free for staying there, I did want to share this place with you, as well as share with some of the people that has been asking me about Panama so far. Believe me, In the coming days I will have a lot more stories to tell and pictures to share.
