Organizing your bathroom.

How is everyone coming along with their organization?  My clean laundry is coming a long, kind of.  Remember this post?  Organizing one step at a time.  I will update on that in another post.

The other night I was thinking that there has to be a better way to organize things in the bathroom.  My husband really dislikes it when I sit bottles around the tub.  I can’t help it if I have different types of shampoos, body washes and other types of bath and beauty products for each time!    I do agree, there has to be a line between convenient and cluttered.   So I have came up with a few things I could do, in my bathroom, to make it more organized.

I thought I would share some of this with you.

First off it depends on the size of your bathroom.

If you are lucky enough to have a large one then here is some tips for that.  We have 4 bathrooms in our home and I can’t say that any of the 4 is what I would consider large.

Large bathrooms:

Add a bookshelf in there.  You can add everyday decorative items to it mixed with your useful items.

put a travel chest or trunk in there and store towels and linens.

put a chest in there and label each drawer with a family members name, that gives each person their own personal drawer to store their toiletries in.

small bathrooms

create a basket with all the items you use everyday.  You can store this in a linen closet or under the sink if there is room.  Create one special for each family member.

over the commode shelves is a great space saver.  (it can also accumulate junk so be careful LoL)

For all bathrooms

organize towels by colors and size, type.

If you don’t have a lot of space you may have to store some of these items in a guest room closet or an extra drawer in another room. Especially seldom used towels like beach towels. I have mine in a shelf on the loft outside our upstairs bathroom.

use glass jars to store cotton products. it’s very decorative and easy for people to find things easier. guests/children/yourself!

Personal care products

Keep an eye on the shelf life. Organic products doesn’t last as long as other products because they don’t contain preservatives.  organic items usually have a shelf life of 2 to 3 months.

General rule you could follow is to write on the bottle with a black marker the date you bought the products.  Most makeup has a shelf life of 3 years.  Mine doesn’t usually last that long.

You can wash makeup brushes with warm soapy water, let them air dry and they fluff up like new!

Most makeup and hair products need to be stored in dark dry place away from sunlight and heat.  If you could get you some dark bins to store all of that stuff in that would be great.  I keep my makeup in a caboodle.

That is it for now on bathroom organization.  I guess I should get busy organizing now Open-mouthed smile  Have a good day and be sure and share you thoughts and any tips you may have!
