Any of us that has kids, grandkids, nieces or nephews has experienced what I am about to say once in their lives.  You find the perfect toy.  You are so excited for the moment to arrive.  The moment that you give the child in your life this wonderful surprise.  The time finally comes and you give them this awesome find.  20 or 30 minutes later you spot the toy laying in the floor without the child near it.  You begin looking for said child when you spot him/her off in the corner playing with the box it came in!  Am I right?  Has this ever happened to you?

This is why I was so excited to hear about  a company called Boutique Cascades.  Founded in 1964, Cascades produces, markets and converts packaging products and tissue paper, composed mainly of recycled fibres.

I think that is fantastic!  While I admit, I don’t always do the right thing when it comes to helping the enviroment, I strive to do what I can and appreciate the people that does.

But back to the children that likes to play with the boxes.

I was sent something from this company called “My Pretty Playhouse”

This house is made out of recycled cardboard!  I already knew it would be a instant hit with my niece and nephew.  My niece is 10 and while she says she is too old for toys, she still has a lot of fun when stuff like this is around!  I do have to add that everytime the company sells a playhouse, they donate $2 to the Habitat for Humanity.  How great is that?

The first thing I would like you to know about the playhouse is it does have to be put together.  I was thinking I could pull it out of the box, unfold it and that be that.  It does go together kind of like a puzzle.  My sister and my older niece was the lucky ones that put this together.

They wasn’t very happy while they were doing it, but the funny part was, after they had it almost together they found the instructions!  The kids were super excited and grateful when it was together!

This is when it gets really good!  Imagination takes over and the kids are able to decorate it any way they like!  I decided to buy them some washable crayola paint and paintbrushes.

These paints were perfect!  They were doing this inside because we were supposed to get rain.  I didn’t even lay down newspapers.  These paints were able to be wiped up off my wood floor and no staining at all.

I am not kidding when I tell you that usually when visiting the kids are constantly wanting to do something different then what we are doing at the moment.  Most visits is usually spent doing something for them.  This time we were all able to sit and talk while the kids painted.  And this didn’t just last a few minutes.  This lasted hours.  It was time to go home and they didn’t want to go.

I think they did a good job if I do say so myself.
