Memorial Day. A day dedicated for remembering the Men that lost their lives serving our country. They went through a lot, gave a lot. I have relatives that lost their lives in the war, relatives I didn’t know but knew of. For those men I am very thankful. A lot of these were nothing but kids that was drafted.
As the years have went on a lot of people has dedicated this day for remembering loved ones in general. It is a day set aside to remember all our loved ones that has passed on. How do you remember that special person that is gone in body but still in your heart?
Personally, I let them live through my heart daily. If there is a song that reminds me of them I smile. If I think of something we did I share the story. I am not unrealistic. I don’t paint up a fantasy in my mind about having the perfect relationship. Everyone I lost and I have a history. Including my Parents. It wasn’t all happy times. It was a mixture of happy and sad and who was right and who wasn’t. We didn’t always see eye to eye and as I became an adult I developed my own sense of right’s and wrongs and normal. But there was always one factor no matter what, it was LOVE.
No matter who you are remembering this Memorial day. No matter what you are doing. Be safe and do it your way.
If I could send a thank you to all the Men & Boys that have lost their lives defending America I would. I would much rather be celebrating Veteran’s day with them then remembering them on this day.
Stay Safe & Enjoy your Day!
*This is my Dad in the picture. He passed away in 1984. My Mom didn’t care for the picture because of the beer in his hand, but he deserved it.*
