Perdue- It’s what’s on the inside that counts!

disclaimer:  I received coupons for free products before writing this posting.  I wasn’t required to write a positive review and all opinions are 100% my own and my differ from yours.

It’s What’s on the inside that Counts is a phrase I have heard most of my life.  That one and “you are what you eat”.  I had just never related the two sayings to the actual food that I was eating.  Not until I started eating Perdue products.  Perdue really does believe you are what you eat, so their cage free chickens are veggie fed.  Yes, that’s right!  They feed their chickens 100% Veggie products.  This diet includes locally sourced corn, Soybeans and marigolds.  You won’t find added hormones or steroids.

I told you before about the story behind Perdue, the 3 generations.  If you missed that post you can read it HERE.

This time I would love to focus on a couple of the specific products Perdue carries.  This is hard to do because they carry so much!

The first thing I would like to talk about is

 PERDUE(R) Crispy Chicken Strips

I think this is a great lunch item.  You can make them in the conventional oven or the microwave.  I like to make things in the oven when time allows, but that is just my preference.  Either way your looking at 18 minutes in the oven or 4 in the microwave.

The taste is amazing.  I love the fact that when I bite into them they are white in the middle.  I don’t appreciate biting into  a piece of chicken and it look rubbery or brown.

In a serving there is about 180 calories and 7 grams of fat.  Just because I was curious, I checked some popular chicken strips.  I found out that these were half the fat and calorie content of most of those “other” strips.

These do contain wheat, so if your allergic, watch out for that.

The next thing I  wanted to talk about was the

PERDUE(R) SIMPLY SMART(R) Lightly Breaded Chicken Strips

First off,  I have been a fan of the Perdue Simply Smart line for a while now.  It just tastes GOOD.  The nutrition facts are very comparable to the crispy strips  but other then just tasting good there is several other benefits that these contain, things such as:

  • Made with only white meat chicken. No preservatives or fillers.
  • At least 50% less fat and 25% fewer calories than USDA data for breaded fried boneless chicken.
  • Made with easily recognizable, all-natural ingredients. Minimally processed.
  • These would be great to use as an appetizer, in a stir fry, in a salad or on a sandwich.

While I have been a fan of Perdue for a while, I was excited when they asked me if I would be interested in working with them again.  I was sent 2 VIP coupons, for myself, so I could try these items.

I was also sent 2 more VIP coupons for one of my readers!
