abnormally high blood pressure.
How can we prevent this? There is several ways. Through living a healthier lifestyle. Drinking water, exercise, eating less fatty foods. If you haven’t had yours checked in a while you can find out easy what your numbers are. Many pharmacies have machines where you can check yours out for free. Going to your doctor and having him check it for you is a sure way to know the numbers are right. He will probably give you advice on how to get it down or keep it down.
If it is very high he may even prescribe tablets for you. I used to be on those tablets myself, but am happy to say that I no longer need them. While I managed to get my Blood Pressure under control, it didn’t mean I quit checking it.
Doctors can get expensive and I am not always out. I decided that I wanted to be able to do this at home. John does have one of the old fashioned cuffs with the pump. But I don’t always want him to check it for me. I want to be able to do it myself if he is out of town or busy.
That is why I decided to try out some different at home blood pressure monitors. I have big arms and I found that a lot of the cuffs didn’t properly fit me.
The one I have been using lately actually goes on my wrist. It is the Santa Medical Wrist Digital Blood Pressure Monitor. It is easy to put on my wrist and check my own pressure. It inflates exactly to the right pressure. I can store up to 60 of my readings so I can compare them daily. It also measures my pulse.
If you aren’t sure about it, take it to your doctor when you go and compare it with his. Sometimes they will even sync your monitor to theirs.
No matter what system you use, be sure and check yours regularly – stay as healthy as you possibly can.
