The past month or so has been an adventure around our home. It all started when one morning, John came in and placed an adorable black sheltie on my lap. Wolfie is 2 years old and half brother to Foxy, our other sheltie. I am not sure how long he was in the rescue, but it had to be a big blow on him. Being taken away from what you know to something you don’t know. Then when he got used to the rescue, along came John.
The day after he came, I left for a week. So in that week he bonded with John. Imagine my surprise (and his) when I showed up. He didn’t want me here. He felt I was the intruder. He was adjusting. It took him time to accept me and I am glad to say that he is actually happy when I walk in the room now.
Building trust was only the first thing we had to do with him. We soon discovered that he didn’t know any of the basic commands. We also learned wee wee pads and housebreaking was to also be included in this black furballs package.
He also loves to bark at anything that he doesn’t know. He has an attitude and if he isn’t on the leash when outside, he will meet the neighbors dog half way and stand there having a barking challenge. This is the main reason we decided to leash him when outside. Having to use a leash makes extra work on us. During the day it isn’t so bad. It is after dark that really can get tricky. Have you ever carried a flash light and tried to control a hard headed dog on a leash?
It just so happened that I had a chance to review a special light. In fact the light is a head lamp. You just slide the elastic over your head and push a button. There is 2 level brightness and also can make it blink red. While I am sure they never thought about pets when they made this light, that is what I have been using it for! Now both hands are free while we walk and I can go just about anywhere in the yard since the light works really well.
This is the one headlamp you will need for any situation: running, jogging, hiking, backpacking, camping, caving, hunting, fishing, reading, work under the sink, in the attic, for construction works, just name it! And it also makes a great gift!
It is from luxuriously smart and it is the luxo lite cree head lamp. Available in blue or yellow on Amazon
