Today was John’s birthday.
We normally make the day special and sometimes it turns into a week long celebration. While this year we didn’t do anything extra special I do believe he had a wonderful day.
The day started off with birthday boy opening up his presents from me. I mentioned a few posts back about going out in search of a gift. This year I bought him several small things. A nice globe from #HomeGoods. A large dreamcatcher. A small zebra that he seen at cracker barrel one day and commented on liking it. Special birthday flowers were also purchased and a small Happy Birthday balloon. You may be wondering what specific meaning these things have.
In his card I wrote a note and on it explained the globe represented the places we still have to travel, one of those places being Africa. We plan on one day going to Africa on a safari. He has done this but we would like to go together. The zebra represented one of the many animals we might see while there. The dream Catcher was to remind him to keep dreaming of these trips we would soon make…Bali, Panama, Africa ETC. Last but not least the balloon represented the hot air balloon ride he is determined for us to go on. I am still debating on that one!
After gift time was done we went and had our traditional birthday breakfast at Denny’s. He likes to go get his free grand slam on birthdays. We also went to a couple of his favorite stores, one being #Half Price Books.
We had thought about going to see “Ted” but decided to come home instead. We sat around, relaxed and then had an early dinner at The Olive Garden. We made it home in time for him to have a nice nap.
Tonight we are doing nothing special. Saturday he wants to have My sister and her kids over for pizza and cake. We would’ve done that today but since school is back in it makes it hard to have them over during the week.
Between today and Saturday I will have gained back some of the 7 lbs I took off at the beginning of the week, haha. I have to say I didn’t do too bad with my eating today and for that I am proud. I could write a whole post on the Olive Garden but I won’t bore you with that. Right Now LOL
