Google Page Authority

google

While at Bloggy Bootcamp I heard about something called Google Page Authority.  I took notes intending to do it when I came home and then of course, forgot.

Yesterday I remembered to get right on that.  It is something very simple to do!  If you are a blogger this is something you really Need to do.

What is Google page authority?

It basically just makes your posts easier to find in search engines.

Just a few simple steps and you are covered.  I wanted to share this with you.  Maybe you already know about this and that is okay.  If I can help 1 blogger out by doing this post, then it will have been worth sharing.

  1. Open up Google+ profile page
  2. Open up WordPress Dashboard (in a new tab)
  3. In your wordpress dashboard find your profile tab in the left hand bar (if you use genesis I think you go through users then profile)
  4. Click on your Google+ tab and copy the URL that is in your browser
  5. Click on your wordpress tab again
  6. Scroll down to where it says google+ and paste that URL in there.  Now take out /posts  (that is important!)
  7. scoll down and save
  8. Click back on Google+ tab
  9. Look under your cover photo on your Google+ profile and you will see “about”  click on that
  10.   Scroll down to the links section, which will be on the right side of your screen and then edit
  11.   look for contributor and in that put the URL to your website/blog
  12.   save.
  13. Now you will want to check and see if it worked.   You will want to go to Structured Data Testing Tool
  14. .  scroll down to “Authorship Email Verification”
  15. .  Paste in a URL to one of the posts on your website
  16.   Click Verify Authorship
  17.   If you have done everything alright you will see the result saying Authorship is working for this webpage

Don’t forget to add me to your circles!
