Another weekend bites the dust. I hope everyone has made the most of it. The simple part of the weekend is always the best for me. Enjoying a cup of coffee while sitting out on the porch. Enjoying the weather and all nature has to offer. I love sitting out there looking at the green, watching the humming birds come after their nectar. Seeing the Cardinals flying from branch to branch. Watching an old lazy cat sleep while a younger playful cat pounces on him which starts a nice little chase for the cats.
When asked which is my favorite season I normally say spring. Sitting here thinking about it I can honestly say that I can find something great about all the seasons. The colors of the fall. Drinking hot chocolate in front of the fireplace during the winter, The heat radiated from the sun in the summer, the outdoor fun family times it provides. Then Spring everything that has died in the winter suddenly comes back to life. Perfect weather….the sounds the smells — a fresh start.
Today I went out in search of a birthday present for John’s birthday. Instead of getting on the interstate I took 25 and just enjoyed my drive. I was in no rush. It gave me a chance to reflect on the positive things in my life. It gave me a chance to enjoy the here and now instead of dwelling on the past that’s already gone and the future that’s not here yet. I spent very little time indoors. To me the perfect present doesn’t have to be something that costs a lot. I want something with a meaning behind it. Something that person can use or look at and know it came from the heart. I did find something that I thought he would appreciate but I will probably share what it was later this week and the meaning behind it.
I drove back home the same way I went, slowly down the old road and stopped off at a flea market and walked around for awhile. I bought some fruit there and came home feeling happy to be alive, happy about where I am in my life right now. Happy about where I am going. One step at a time.
