Defeating Christmas Blues when you’re Broke.

Where do you find motivation when you are lacking it?  When you are down at your lowest how do you pull yourself back up to even seek inspiration?  What inspires you?  These are questions I have been asking myself many times over the last few days.  With the stress level even getting higher for so many people as the Christmas/Holiday draws nearer.  With money tight for several people that love to give it really puts them in a low place.

Yes I know this season isn’t about getting but believe me I know what it is like to want to give.  To want to see the smile on someone’s face when they receive something they never thought they would get.  For the feeling that washes over you when you feel you have made someone happy.  I believe there is several people that love that feeling.  And when they know that isn’t going to be possible, it puts them in a bad place.  How do they climb out of that place and move forward?

It can be done.  I have been there & done that.

No, I am not going to tell you it isn’t about what you spend on people but the thought behind it.  We all know that is true already.

I am not going to say a gift from the heart is better so make a craft.  We all know a gift from the heart is better, but on that same note, we are not all crafters.  My mom can look at a picture and make something without even reading the directions.  I never inherited that talent.  I would’ve loved to have.  It is what it is.

I really don’t have the secret answer here.  I can’t tell you how to go shopping without money.  If I ever figure out a legal way I will sell you the e book on it HAHA

I will give you my advice or opinion.

I believe that we should take one day at a time.  I believe we should pull out that tree and decorate it whether we are going to put presents under it.  I believe we should turn the music up and sing along as we deck the halls.  It really will all work out!  It is all about the mindset.

If we sit and feel sorry for ourselves then we will never figure anything out.  Know you are not alone.  True friends and family will love you and be there for you no matter what.  And when all else fails.  EAT CHOCOLATE.

  • Love this post! Luckily I am a crafter and will be making a lot of homemade items this year to supplement the store bought ones. One inexpensive gift if you are not a crafter (but a decent cook), is to handwrite some of your favorite recipes down on pretty cards and give them as gifts. Everyone always appreciates a good recipe (unless they don’t cook at all!).
