Waking up a couple days ago, I did what I do on most days. I looked at the clock, the same clock I look at every morning. You know the one I have to subtract or add a couple hours too because I haven’t really sprang forward yet. I stumbled to the bathroom, stopping to pet Foxy and Cheeto. After giving them loving I continued to start my day. Eventually I made my way down the stairs. I found the cup of coffee that I need to get going through my veins ASAP. As I drank that cup of coffee I read my morning paper, aka Facebook.
My FB memory that morning was a gif that said “Installing Spring”. It looked like a download that was stuck, the bar was halfway full. This particular morning it was really pretty out. Warm enough in fact that John was outside working on the green house. He loves this weather and has already made definite plans to be outside all summer long. He built his bee hives, He has been composting, He even has taken up to raising worms this year. The garden will be his main priority and he has that planned out as well.
While I haven’t jumped full force into the garden, I am looking forward to my own special flower garden. Just a square of beautiful flowers. A place where I can sit near as I write, draw or read a favorite book. Last week I ordered several flower seeds that will go in my garden. Everything has really been coming together. I am almost afraid to say that things have been going perfect, mainly because life isn’t perfect. But in that area, it is going “swell”. In fact after I ordered my seeds, I seen that a company was needing reviewers for some of their seedling trays. They were offering discounts for a 5 pack seedling tray. Each tray holds 72 seedlings! I jumped right on that.
The #BootStrap Farmer offered me these 72 cell seedling trays, they are available on Amazon. When they came in I was so happy to see that they weren’t just a set of cheap trays. I am anxious to have a beautiful flower garden, and those flowers depend on the trays. I don’t want something that is going to bend in the middle once I have my precious seeds in them.
These trays are made of a Ultra Durable BPA Free Plastic. (BPA is a chemical that has been used in certain plastics since the 1960’s). Each tray has drain holes and large enough to allow the roots to grow through, but doesn’t mess with the vermiculite. These trays can be used over and over, I love that! If you are looking for seedling trays, these are perfect!

NOTE: The following post is a true story about a Woman that I have came to know over the years. Names have been changed for privacy reasons.
Sometimes there is true stories that start Out with: Once Upon a Time, They may even end with: Happily Ever After. Sometimes life is closer then people may think to a fairy tale. Except with a fairy tale everything is made up. The evil doers are the wicked witch, the evil stepmother/sisters. There is always a handsome prince to sweep the beautiful princess off her feet and save her from the evil around her.
The little girl I am talking about in this post may have started out with a Once upon a time. She had a Mommy & Daddy that loved her. She had a sister and brother that adored her. Unbeknownst to the adoring family, someone else adored her. Someone that was close to the family- In fact related.
Let’s call this little girl Annabelle. Annabelle was sexually molested by her own uncle. She blocked this out for years. Sometimes the mind has a way of protecting us from going insane. Still the effects were there.
Annabelle became extremely shy. She turned to food and started gaining weight.
It was time to start school and Annabelle was so shy. Being shy and overweight when you are a child isn’t a great combination. The bullies in school soon find those qualities and that is who their target is.
Now Annabelle had to cope with a new problem. She had no self esteem. She was being abused by someone that was supposed to be her protector. The kids at school was calling her names. Making fun of her weight. Kicking her. Laughing at her. She didn’t fight back. She accepted it. She got to the point to where she couldn’t even cry.
Annabelle accepted her life as it was. She didn’t understand what was happening. Why she was the way she was.
What she didn’t know the worst wasn’t over.
By the time Annabelle was a teen, she lost someone extremely close to her. She coped the best she knew how. Hiding her tears when they did come.
She tried to move on through school. Then it happened. Not only was she being bullied by some of her peers, but she was sexually abused by someone in the school system. This time she didn’t block it out. She just dealt with it the best she could. Using food as an escape until she could quit school at 16.
She had a lot of issues. Weight issues, Trust issues, emotional issue, even self harming issues. She wasn’t sure why she was the way she was. She just accepted it and the criticism that everyone in her circle freely offered. They put her down because of her weight. They put her down because of her attitude. They didn’t understand that she was holding things in and every now and then it had to come out in anger. They called these spells “crazy spells”.
Annabelle eventually reached adult hood. She even thought she had found love and got married. A few years later she started having dreams. She started having flashbacks. She started remembering what her mind had blocked out. Things that was said, places, actions. And then the face.
Putting all this together she reached a crossroads. Victim or Survivor. Which way would she go? She started down the path of the victim. It seemed easier. And it was in a way. But then she realized that she was tired of being a victim. She was just tired. Things were clear to her now.
Annabelle turned around from Victim street and chose to go down survivor road.
Did Annabelle just automatically lose all her problems? NO!
Annabelle still dreams. Annabelle still questions why. Annabelle wonders what she could have become. But Annabelle does one thing now she didn’t before. She doesn’t dwell on the past. She lives for the day. She takes it one day at a time and tries to be a positive influence in her circle.
In a way Annabelle is now living her Happily ever after.
Annabelle has inspired me. While I can never stop sexual abuse or bullying, I can focus on doing what I can to maybe help bullying. A few days ago I talked about A bear from Ready Set Go. You can see that post HERE
I wonder how Annabelle may have reacted if she had of had a bear such as this. While we can’t change what happened to Annabelle, we can prevent this from happening to our children today. Maybe if a child going through bullying at school had a bear like this in their corner, they would understand that what they are going through isn’t right.
Annabelle was bullied by family, by kids and by strangers.
Just maybe Parents, Grandparents, Aunts & Uncle could use something such as a Ready Set Go Bear as a tool to teach kids that it isn’t okay to be laughed at. It isn’t okay to be kicked.
That is why I have decided to team up with the Founder of Ready Set Go Bears and promote them. Annabelle’s story has inspired me to talk more about the hard to discuss topics here at Shopping Wives.
I want to stand up against Bullies, No matter how old they are! It is NOT cool!
Stay tuned as I start posting more about the subject and what Ready Set Go Bears is doing to help our children not be bullied.
I have a new addition in my household. Actually it is a new addition to my makeup table.
It is something that not only clears out my pores, makes my face feel great, but promotes blood circulation and provides hydration to my face.
This new addition is a home facial steamer sauna. It is simple to use, while it doesn’t come with a booklet of instructions – it is self explanatory.
I just fill it up to the water line, I turn it on for about 5 minutes to let it get steaming properly- then I sit down in front of it, lying my chin on the rest and use it for about 2 minutes. That is all it takes.
This spa like sauna has low or high power, so you can choose what works best for you. It also comes with a bottle of Eucalyptus Essential oil. Drop a couple drops in your water for a even better experience!
The use of oils with this will help you with tired eyes and so much more.
They have a small but informative pamphlet in with this when you receive it. It tells you about the different skin types and how long you should use the machine. Not only will it tell you how long, then it gives you a process on what to do to treat it.
This is really a great tool to have on my makeup table. I really love it! If you are interested in reading more about this product or even purchasing your own – It is available on Amazon

A couple years ago we had a van that had a backup camera in it. While I had never used one before, I came to rely on it. Once we got rid of the van we ended up with vehicles that wasn’t equipped with a back up camera. I still miss it. Especially when I am in a congested parking spot, like the grocery store or some other shopping adventure I am on.
Then I was asked to review a back up camera! It is from ESKY and is a one button control. This came has a 170 degree wide viewing angle. The camera is waterproof and has night vision.
Installation is simple.
1. Mount it to your license plate, back window or wherever you would like it.
2. Adjust the lens
3. Connect power wire (they are red and black and comes with it) to your vehicle’s DC 12 Power system
4. Then connect the yellow cord, which is the video output, to display in your vehicle.
I love anything that comes with color coded wires and instructions with where to put those colored wires.
As far as the camera itself. It works. Would I say it was as nice as the one made in the van we had previously owned. No. Would this be something that works well enough for me to want to purchase it. Yes. It is a tool that helps me feel more comfortable when I am out and backing up. While I still use my mirrors, this may help me from backing into something that I didn’t see in the mirror. It gives me a safer feeling when I am out.
If you are interested in purchasing or finding out more about this backup camera, you can find it on Amazon.

With 5 cats, 2 dogs and a smoker in my home, I am always scared that some kind of odor may linger. Especially when company is coming over or showing up unexpectedly. I guess this makes me more observant and ready to try the newest odor eliminators. Sprays and plug ins and everything in between. I have tried. Some I liked, some I didn’t. Then I started seeing diffusers and I really wanted one.
Since I found out about the diffusers I have tried several. My all time favorite is the one from #esZENtials. This diffuser is Faux wood. That is the first thing that caught my eye. If I hadn’t felt it, I would’ve swore it was real wood. The only way anyone would really know it wasn’t real wood is if they went over and picked it up. There is only one person I know that might’ve done that and that was my Mom. She used to see something she liked, grab at it and say “where did you get that”. She is gone now, but will live forever in my heart.
The diffuser really fits into my rustic décor. It is also easy to use. Just sit it where you want it. Take the top off. Fill it to the water line (with the enclosed cup) add a few drops of your favorite oil. Place the top back on. Plug it in. Decide which color light you would like. I like the colors changing, but you can pick one color and leave it at that. There is sooo many nice ones to choose from! Then decide how long you want it to run. There is 3 choices. 1 hour – 3 hours or 6 hours.
Once you choose you just sit back and enjoy. It doesn’t make any noise.
Does it make a difference? Yes it does! I fixed mine where I wanted it while John was outside. A little bit later he came inside and said it smelled great in the house. He didn’t know I had the diffuser going since I decided to sit it around the corner out of view of the door. I told him and he couldn’t believe it. That was my proof that it makes a difference. Now I am able to feel more confident when friends come over.
This is available on Amazon.
If you are looking into getting a diffuser, this is the one I would suggest. I am adding a video to this post. Please forgive my video skills! But you can see more about it in it.
This one is for all those Bakers out there. What kind of rolling pin do you currently own? Most I have seen is the regular wooden ones. When I was growing up, my mom could cook just about anything. While she could bake just about whatever she wanted, she didn’t always have the proper tools. This didn’t stop her. I remember her rolling out biscuits with a glass.
When I got in a stainless steel rolling pin from #RollMaster, I couldn’t help but think of my Mom. What she would’ve thought of this pin. I know I tried it out and I really liked it a lot. For a couple simple reasons. The first being that my dough doesn’t stick to it. And it is so easy to clean up after using it. Some of the wood or bamboo pins gets dough stuck in the creases and it is so hard to get it properly clean. This pin is dishwasher safe and in fact is healthier then most pins, due to the nonporous surface.
It is also easy on the wrists when rolling. That is because the handle bars helps with the pressure on your wrists.
This rolling pin would be perfect for just about one. Buy one for yourself or give it to your favorite Foodie or Baker. It comes in a nice gift worthy box.
It is available on Amazon:
I was sent a different kind of air freshener. This was a rather large bag with bamboo charcoal inside it. It almost looks like a cushion. It has a seat hanger and you hang it in your car to trap unpleasant odors. We have put it in ours and it seems to do a decent job. It doesn’t look bad and this is good for us. John doesn’t care for air fresheners that is really heavy scented and “fake” fragrances.
Here is more information about it from the company:

I received an item for review that was meant to help me get my feet in shape for summer shoes. It was a #CallusFit Electric Callus remover. It uses 4 AA batteries. While I have a couple different ones of these, I try and find the positives in each one individually. Especially when sharing it with someone I might influence on their decision in purchasing.
Normally the removers I have had in the past came in nice giftable boxes. This one came in a regular see through package that you might find hanging on a peg board in a store. With me the packaging didn’t really matter. This was one thing that it really was what was on the inside that counted. I was keeping it for myself and not giving it as a gift.
This remover used more batteries then the ones I had tried in the past. I was wondering why. After inspecting it, I noticed it seemed larger then most of the ones I had owned in the past. Turning it on I realize the power was really up there, it is made for those heavy duty callus’s in my opinion! After this winter my feet sure needed/needs heavy duty!
A couple days after trying out this product and I was collecting my thoughts about it, I received an email from the company. They let me know that the product was no longer available. They wasn’t sure when it would be back on Amazon. They didn’t give me a reason. They even told me that I didn’t need to review it.
I wanted to though for a couple reasons. I strive to find products that might be different. Products that is from small businesses or family owned that may need to have their name out there in cyberspace, just so they can get noticed. But, to let YOU my readers know about this product.
If you are looking for something not so fancy, but heavy duty – then this remover is for you. If I do find out that it is back out there, I will be sure and update this page with the correct link.
I am also reviewing another item of this type and I will talk about it in another post in just a couple days. Be on the lookout for it.
Now I am going to take these feet outside and enjoy this sunshine!

Sunday is the first day of spring! I am super excited! What do you think of when you think of spring? If you are like me, you probably think of the great outdoors.
The sun and nice weather. The planting of flowers and the starting of the garden. Picnics, fishing and even camping.
It has been such a long time since I actually went camping. I would like to do it again sometime. The last time I went I slept in an RV, but would love to be able to lay in a tent or even the open and look at the sky. I am like a chipmunk lately, hoarding anything that I may one day use on a big camping adventure. Lanterns and picnic blankets, even a sleeping bag.
Being a BBW I have to find a bag that is going to work for me. I will be on the lookout! John already has one. I wish I could use it! The one he has is one I recently reviewed. It is a bag from EGOZ. This blue sleeping bag looks really nice. I love it because it is washable. John really likes it because it is comfortable on the inside. There is plenty of room for him. He is about 5’9 and weighs somewhere around 180 lbs.
He in fact got in it one day and took a nap. He had no problem getting in, zipping up and unzipping when he got up. He stayed warm and comfortable.
While this bag is great for sleeping out, it is also great for other things. For childrens slumber parties or unexpected over night guests. Spread it out in the yard and sit down on it. It is easy to roll up when you are done with it and only weights around 3 lbs.
Yes, I am looking forward to spring. I love the change of the seasons and each one has something that I am grateful to experience.
What are you looking forward to this season?
