I have learned about something new in the art world in the last week. You know me, always a day late and a dollar short. What I have learned about is something called Fuse beads. While some of you may already know what they are, I will explain to the ones that don’t.
Fuse beads are small beads that you lay out on a plastic canvas and build into a pattern. You then lay ironing paper on top of them and run a iron over them to melt or fuse them together.
Artkal sent me a set of their Fuse beads so I could build my own Minion! I was informed last April, by my 13 year old niece, that Minions was for “old” people. I think it is because they are one of the favorite MeMes going around now. Label me old if you must, but young or old, I love Minions.
That is why I was excited about this fuse kit.
The kit comes with everything you need to build your own minion. Over 2000 beads. One bag of nothing but yellow and another bag of blue, yellow, black and white. They also have ironing paper, tweezers and long plastic sticks.
The steps to building your Minion is as easy as 3 steps.
1. Following the pattern provided in the box, lay the beads on the pegboard.
2. put ironing paper on top of the beads and run a warm iron over fusing them together.
3. take beads off artwork, do the back side. then put the sides together (under pressure).
This is really a cute project that would be a great project for parents and their children to do together. One thing you must watch out for is if you have young children. These beads are very small and are a choking hazard. As long as your safe I believe you can have a lot of fun. This particular set is available on Amazon: ART:EGO ™ – 3D Minion Fuse Beads Set
I love mine and it is a project I would do in the future.
